What is "The Six"?
Who are its members?
Why are there eight books in a series called "The Six"?

Good questions, all.
"The Six" is a group of musical young ladies, who, despite their varying ages, all make their come-outs in 1813. Beth Castleton, the heroine of A Scandalous Journey, brings all six girls together. The formation of the group isn't discussed in ASJ, however; it happens in The Marriage Campaign, when Beth tries to help Elston by meeting his prospective brides, so she can introduce them to him. Beth is a prominent secondary character in TMC, which, like ASJ, takes place during the Season of 1813.

The members of "The Six" are:
Miss Julia Elizabeth "Beth" Castleton, the orphaned, American niece of the Earl of Castleton. Beth is the heroine of A Scandalous Journey. She is 23 during the Season of 1813.
Miss Karolina "Karla" Lane, the daughter of the late Viscount Padbury and his first wife. Karla is the heroine The Marriage Campaign. She, too, is 23 during the 1813 Season.
Lady Deborah Woodhurst, the eldest twin daughter of the Marquess and Marchioness of Kesteven. Deborah is 20 during the Season of 1813. She is the heroine of Twin Peril, which takes place during the Season of 1814.

Lady Sarah Mallory, the daughter of the Earl and Countess of Tregaron. Sarah is 21 during the 1813 Season. She is the heroine of A Rake's Redemption, which takes place during the Season of 1814.
Lady Christina "Tina" Fairchild, the daughter (and only child) of the Duke and Duchess of Greenwich. The youngest of the group, Tina is 17 during the 1813 Season. She will be the heroine of The Hoyden (w.t.), which will, I think, be set in 1815.
Miss Harriett Broughton, the daughter (and only child) of the late Sir Thomas Broughton, K.G., a member of Parliament, and his wife. Harriett, who is 19 during the Season of 1813, will be the heroine of The MP's Daughter, which is set during the Season of 1814
.

Why are there eight books in a series called "The Six"?

Well . . . when I started, I didn't know that I had so many stories to tell. I'd never written a book--nor even imagined that I would--but when a friend challenged me to write Beth and George's story, I did. But as I wrote ASJ, I became quite intrigued by several of the gentlemen who appeared as secondary characters. In particular, Elston (George's best friend and the hero of The Marriage Campaign), Dunnley (George's cousin and the hero of A Rake's Redemption), and Lord David (George's brother and the hero of A Twist of Fate).

What's an author to do when there are three gorgeous, extremely eligible bachelors demanding books of their own? Well, if she's like me, she writes their stories. :) The Marquess of Elston was the most intriguing of the trio, so I began with him. But in writing his story (TMC), I made the acquaintance of a couple of other interesting, very eligible gents, as well as a number of charming young ladies . . . and now I have even more stories to tell.

The heroines of two of the books, A Twist of Fate and The Expedient Marriage (a.k.a. Mission in Rome), are not members of "The Six," so those books aren't, strictly speaking, part of the series, although you'll encounter familiar faces within their pages.
